Glossary

Enough readers have asked questions about some of the terminology I use on the blog that I decided it would be useful to have a glossary.   If you have a term you need clarification on, leave a comment or drop me an email.

Alpha – Psychosocially dominant males who find it easy to attract women, often multiple women at once.

Beta – Non-psychosocially dominant males who find it difficult to attract women but can usually get one with effort.

DHV – Demonstration of Higher Value.  Things a man does to raise a woman’s opinion of him as a potential date/mate, such as taking the lead in social situations and playfully teasing the woman.

DLV – Demonstration of Lower Value.  Things a man does to lower a woman’s opinion of him as a potential date/mate, such as letting a woman control the relationship.

DMV – Dating Market Value.  See SMV.

Hypergamy – A woman’s biological drive to date/mate the highest-status man she can get.

IOI – Indicator of Interest.

LJBF – Let’s Just Be Friends.

MSM – Mainstream Media.  Newspapers, magazines, news programs, infotainment shows…basically any traditional outlet for disseminating news and opinions.  The opposite of the MSM would be something like blogs.

Omega – Men who have no hope of attracting women due to lack of social skills and/or looks.

SMV – Sexual Market Value.  Essentially, a person’s attractiveness to the opposite sex.  Often referred to using a number on the 1-10 scale, with 10 being irresistible beauty and perfection.

SMP – Sexual Marketplace.

    INLT?

  7. Aunt Haley December 16, 2010 at 7:34 am #

INLT = I’m Not Like That. It’s my own term for all the protesters who appear with anecdotal rebuttals every time I state a generalization.

What, no entry for the Rationalization Hamster (Mesocricetus rationalis)?

  11. deti January 5, 2012 at 11:12 am #

Rationalization hamster (wrt women): n. 1. That portion of a woman’s brain tasked with devising after the fact reasons and justifications for the woman’s course of action, statement or thought, and then offering them in a palatable way when questioned, challenged or “busted”. The hamster never sleeps and cannot be killed or removed. Origin: the visual of a hamster in its cage on its exercise wheel, spinning like mad but ultimately going nowhere.

You say you’re a Christian looking at things from a Christian perspective. Then why does your “glossary” look like something written in a secular “pick up” site for a dating “meat” market. The Apostle Paul said he “recognizes no one according to the flesh”. When you have,

“Sexual Market Value. Essentially, a person’s attractiveness to the opposite sex. Often referred to using a number on the 1-10 scale, with 10 being irresistible beauty and perfection.”

that is called recognition according to the flesh. What about the soul and spirit of a guy or a gal. You have a statement, “Marry someone you can’t live without.” That’s from Josh Macdowell’s talk “Maximum Sex” which he gave on college campuses in the late 1960’s. Physical attraction, yes, it is there, but our concentration in starting a dating relationship should be the spirit then the soul. You see the order in the dating relationship should be SPIRIT, Soul, body. In that order and in that emphasis. Body becomes important only after marriage commitment.

The Apostle Paul said he “recognizes no one according to the flesh”.

St. Paul was building the church. Haley is giving dating advice. You lack context, grottokid.

If you’re a Christian, you need to define things from a Christian perspective. That’s Grotto’s point.
